SMS (Messages)

This section outlines the user consent policy for accessing and syncing SMS messages on the monitored device using the MyPhones Agent app.

✅ Purpose of SMS Monitoring

SMS log collection is intended to support:

  • Monitoring communication patterns of minors

  • Auditing message metadata for business-owned devices

  • Detecting potential harmful or unauthorized messaging activity

📄 Scope of Collected Data

When enabled, the Agent app may collect:

  • SMS message direction (inbound or outbound)

  • Sender or recipient phone number

  • Timestamp of each message

  • Message body content (optional)

  • Delivery/read status (if available)

  • Contact name (if matched in address book)

  1. SMS monitoring is optional and must be explicitly enabled.

  2. Consent is captured with timestamp, user IP, and device association.

  3. Users are informed whether message content or just metadata is collected.

  4. Android permissions required: READ_SMS and RECEIVE_SMS.

  5. SMS content collection is subject to Android version restrictions (limited or blocked on Android 10+).

  6. Data is encrypted during transmission and secure in storage.

  7. SMS data is never shared with any third parties.

  8. Users may revoke consent and disable SMS monitoring at any time.

  9. The Agent app does not send or modify SMS messages.

  10. The Admin account can only view messages associated with linked devices.

Reading or collecting SMS messages from another person’s device may be illegal without consent. Always use this feature transparently and only on devices you legally own or manage.

Failure to comply with privacy or telecom regulations may result in legal consequences. Use responsibly and in compliance with local laws.
