App Usages

This section describes the consent requirements for tracking app usage statistics and screen time activity on a monitored device using the MyPhones Agent app.

✅ Purpose of App Usage Monitoring

The app usage feature provides visibility into how much time is spent in each application. This supports:

  • Digital wellbeing analysis for children or family members

  • Productivity audits on company-owned devices

  • Identifying potentially excessive or harmful screen habits

📄 Scope of Collected Data

When enabled, the Agent app may collect:

  • Foreground activity time per application

  • App usage duration per day or session

  • App launch and close timestamps

  • Most frequently used apps summary

  • Total screen-on time (daily)

  • Device ID associated with session

  1. App usage tracking is disabled by default and must be explicitly enabled.

  2. Consent is logged with timestamp and user confirmation.

  3. The feature requires PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS and access to Android Usage Access settings.

  4. Users are informed that no in-app content is read or recorded — only usage time.

  5. App usage data is collected periodically or on schedule.

  6. Data is encrypted before cloud storage.

  7. Only authorized Admin accounts can view this data.

  8. Users can revoke consent and stop usage tracking anytime.

  9. No screen recordings or keystrokes are captured.

  10. No app data is shared with any third parties.

Monitoring screen time and app usage must be done with user awareness and consent. Always disclose clearly that usage analytics is being collected.

Responsible screen tracking can support wellness and security. Never use this feature for covert surveillance.
